Category / Connectivity & bandwidth Experiencing network/connection problems

Having a stable and fast internet connection is crucial when using internet-based applications like GoClass. Sometimes, the cause of issues with the application is not a problem with the system itself, but rather a network issue. If you experience network connection problems or receive a message indicating network issues, there are several things you can check to resolve the issue, as listed below.

Firewall

We comprehend that several companies favor to direct their network traffic through a firewall to enhance confidentiality and protection. Nonetheless, since GoClass is a peer-to-peer service, we require some network traffic to be permitted through the firewall. To do so, outgoing network traffic via TCP and UDP on port 443 must be open. Your network administrator will need to make this change.

Internet speed issues

Sometimes, the connection difficulties might not stem from your internet speed, but instead from your connection to your service provider. This often occurs at the WiFi router. Ideally, a computer should have a direct line of sight with the router for optimal performance. When there is one or more walls between the computer and router, it is possible for the network speed to slow down and the connection quality to deteriorate. To determine if this is the case, try conducting internet speed tests using GoClass Setup in different locations to observe if the speed changes. If you have unstable WiFi, consider using an Ethernet cable to connect your laptop directly to the router.

Restrictions in specific countries

In certain countries like Russia, China, and the UAE, restrictions have been implemented on peer-to-peer applications such as GoClass. Some users in these regions have reported inconsistent access to GoClass or complete unavailability of the service. Unfortunately, as these restrictions are government-imposed on the internet, there is nothing that can be done to resolve these issues on our end.
