Category / Audio & video Resolve and fix the echoing issue

What Causes Echo?

Typically, an echo is caused by either of these two things:

  1. Someone's microphone is too close to their speaker or sound output. This could be two participants in the same room, or someone with an external microphone positioned too close to their speakers.
  2. One or more users are experiencing slow or unstable network conditions. In this case, audio feeds can get out of sync, causing echoing.

How to fix echo?

To fix echo, you need to identify which of the possible causes is causing the problem. Below are some methods to address each potential cause.

Mic Proximity

You can determine the source of any echo in your room by having all participants join and then muting their microphones one by one. If the echo stops when a specific user mutes their microphone, it's likely that the issue is with their setup.

To resolve this, the affected user can either use a headset to prevent their microphone from picking up audio from the room, or they can lower their computer volume and move their microphone farther away from the speakers. For those using a laptop with a built-in microphone, using a headset is the recommended solution.

Network Issues

If the user is experiencing issues while using WiFi, they can try connecting to a different network or using an ethernet connection instead. If the issue improves when using a different network, it suggests that the original network may not be reliable enough for use with GoClass.

Network problems can be identified by checking your internet speed using a website like GoClass Setup and ensuring that it meets the minimum requirements for use GoClass.
